# Can unused promotional SMS credits be carried forward to the next month?

|| Info
Quick answer

* No—any unused "Promo SMS" credits are automatically reset to zero at 23:59 (local time) on the last calendar day of the month.
* A fresh monthly quota (e.g., 1,000 credits on the Basic plan) appears at 00:01 on the 1st.
* Credits can only be preserved by sending them before the reset or by downgrading/upgrading the plan to match your real usage.

---

## Why aren’t unused credits carried forward?

* Promotional SMS pricing is negotiated on monthly volume commitments with carriers.
* Rolling over unused messages would inflate next-month send rates and violate carrier policies.

---

## What exactly happens on the 1st?

| Local time | Automated system action |
| --- | --- |
| 23:59, last day of the month | Remaining promo credits set to 0 |
| 00:01, 1st day of the month | New "Promo SMS" balance = 1,000 credits (Basic plan example) |

---

## How to avoid losing credits?

You can plan your monthly usage in advance to ensure the utilization of your credits to the fullest.

---

## Edge cases & limitations

| Scenario | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| Mid-month plan change | Remaining credits reset instantly to the new plan quota |
| Account paused | Credits resume at 0 when you reactivate |
| Messages violate AUP | Unused credits may be reset to 0 |
