What should I do if my template gets rejected?

If Meta rejects your WhatsApp template

If Meta rejects your WhatsApp template, it means the message doesn’t fully comply with WhatsApp Business Policies. The good news? You can fix the issues and resubmit quickly.

🔍 Step 1: Review the Rejection Reason

  1. Log in to MyOperator → Templates tab
  2. Hover over the ❌ Rejected status
  3. A tooltip will display the reason, such as:
  • “Promotional content in Utility category”
  • “Variable mismatch”
  • “Prohibited words or unsupported links”

🛠 Step 2: Fix Common Issues

Rejection Reason

How to Fix

Wrong category

Resubmit as Marketing instead of Utility

Misuse of variables

Correct placeholder format: {{1}}, {{2}}

Prohibited content

Remove unsupported links or unapproved offers

Mixed button types

Do not combine Quick Replies with URL/Call buttons

✏️ Step 3: Create a New Template

  • Click Create Template
  • Adjust content, category, variables, or button structure
  • Submit the updated version for Meta approval

Warning : You cannot edit a rejected template. Instead, clone or recreate it (use a unique or slightly varied name).

Tip : Always test variables, formatting, and button behavior. Use the Preview panel to see how the template will look before submission.
